The White House welcomes Türkiye's (Turkey) decision to start the process of approving Finland's NATO application, but urges Ankara to do the same with Sweden's application.
"We urge Türkiye to also ratify Sweden's accession protocol quickly. In addition, we call on Hungary to complete the ratification process both for Finland and Sweden, without delay," says the White House's national security advisor Jake Sullivan.
Shortly after Türkiye's announcement, the Secretary-General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, wrote on Twitter, and he too welcomes the fact that the country is moving forward with the Finnish NATO process.
"Finland and Sweden will make NATO stronger," he wrote.
