"It feels great that we have broken the code for chickpeas, says Håkan Johnsson, CEO of Kalmar Öland garden products, to Barometer
The crux has been to find the right seed. For six years, the company has tested various types of chickpeas in collaboration with, among others, the Housekeeping Society.
The chickpea farms will be located on Öland and Gotland, in Skåne and Östergötland. This is the first time chickpeas have been grown on such a large scale in Sweden.
"Now it will be exciting to see if it will be as good as we think", says Håkan Johnsson to the newspaper.
