Fredrik "Benke" Rydman describes "The one" as a "passion project" and a declaration of love for dance. The story takes place at an audition and reflects the lives of young dancers.

"You could say that my whole life as a dancer has been a preparation for this particular performance. I want to renew the concept of the musical by using today's pop music, what you dance and express yourself to, but also convey how young people think and feel", says Fredrik "Benke" Rydman in a press release.

He is one of Sweden's best-known choreographers, formerly ran the dance company Bounce, and writes lyrics and scripts together with Åsa Lindholm, a playwright and director who has worked at the Stockholm City Theatre, among others.

In addition to Janice and Christine Meltzer, some of the roles of the Melodi Festival artists Alvaro Estrella and Isa Tengblad and Erik "Jerka" Johansson are known from the "Bonus Family."

The newly written music is made by a bunch of songwriters with Linnea Deb at the head. She is behind three winning songs from the Melodi festival: "You" with Robin Stjernberg, "Heroes" with Måns Zelmerlöw and "Voices" with Tusse.

"The one" gets first performance at Cirkus in Stockholm on September 14th.
