Portugal defeated Ghana by 3-2.
The first hour of the Portugal-Ghana match was low scoring and slow.
Then the action really kicked off.
In the 65th minute Cristiano Ronaldo scored a penalty. The Portuguese, who has been the man in the headlines over the last week, stepped up and made it 1-0. At the same time he became historic. Ronaldo is the first men's football player to make goal in five World Cup finals, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022. On the women's side, Brazilian football icon Marta has made goal in equal numbers.
But Portugal's joy became short-lived. Minutes later, Ghana equalized through André Ayew.
With just a quarter left, Portugal again took the lead through João Félix. Then Rafael Leão replaced 3-1.
Ghana shook up the Portuguese and scored a reduction in the 85th minute. They pushed for a goal but Portugal held on to win 3-2.
